Police: Detainee Found Days After Escape From Va. Jail

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Authorities say they’ve found a detainee, days after his escape from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Lynchburg.

Media outlets report that Lynchburg police Maj. Ryan Zuidema said at a news conference that tips from the public helped authorities find 22-year-old James Pavlis on Wednesday evening. He says Pavlis was found by the James River more than 2 miles from the jail. He was taken into custody without incident and taken to Amherst Adult Detention Center.

After slipping out of the kitchen Monday morning, Jail Administrator Tim Trent says Pavlis went out the rear entrance and through the loading dock.

Online jail records show Pavlis was being held without bond on grand larceny, breaking and entering, firearms charges and other offenses. He’s now charged with escape too.
