WASHINGTON — Bei Bei is back on display at the National Zoo after undergoing emergency surgery to remove a a lemon-sized masticated mass of bamboo that blocked the giant panda cub’s intestine.
The zoo had closed the panda house at the at the David M. Rubenstein Family Giant Panda Habitat after the 1-year-old panda underwent the surgery.
The panda house reopened at 9 a.m. Monday and is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Bei Bei underwent the “live-saving” surgery Friday, Nov. 25.
By Monday, Nov. 28, the cub was back to nursing and eating softened biscuits and apple.
