Pair Charged With Carjacking Cab Driver in Severna Park

SEVERNA PARK, Md. (AP) — Police in Maryland say two people assaulted and carjacked a taxi driver while they were accompanied by two small children.

Anne Arundel County Police say 25-year-old Leah Charnelle Ellison and 22-year-old Andreas Richard Robinson attacked the 61-year-old driver early Saturday in Severna Park after the driver asked to be paid ahead of time, before driving the two adults and two children to Washington.

Authorities say the pair took the driver’s keys and cellphone, pushed him out of the vehicle and drove off in the taxi.

Officers found the stolen vehicle unoccupied in Severna Park and located Ellison and Robinson nearby.

Ellison and Robinson each face multiple charges, including carjacking, robbery and second-degree assault. It’s unclear whether they have attorneys. Child Protective Services took custody of the children.
