Navy Support Ship's Deployment Delayed

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — The deployment of a ship that will support U.S. Navy operations overseas has been delayed.

Media outlets report that the USNS Laramie was scheduled to depart Monday morning but is being held back due to an “engineering casualty.” Officials say repairs are underway.

The ship primarily supplies fuel to Navy ships as well as jets on aircraft carriers while they’re at sea. The Laramie is supposed to provide assistance to ships deployed in the Middle East.

A new deployment date for the Laramie has not yet been set.
