Montgomery Co. Police Investigate Fatal Silver Springs Shooting

SILVER SPRING, Md. — Detectives with the Montgomery County police are investigating the circumstances that led to a fatal shooting Wednesday night in the Forest Glen area of Silver Spring, Maryland.

The shooting happened in a home on Belvedere Boulevard, just east of Georgia Avenue before 10 p.m.

There were several people inside the home and one of them called the police to report the incident, according to investigators.

“The caller stated that a subject entered the home and shot another occupant of the house,” said Officer Rick Goodale, a Montgomery County Police spokesman.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the man who had been shot on the upper level of the home.

“He was taken to a hospital where unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries,” Goodale said.

The suspect got away from the scene.

Some of the questions investigators are trying to answer is whether or not the shooter forced himself into the home and if anyone there at the time knew the shooter.

“They’re interviewing witnesses,” Goodale said. “It’s in the very early stages.”

Investigators urge anyone who may have information to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
