BALTIMORE (AP) — Prosecutors have cleared police officers in three shooting incidents last year, including the shooting of a man who walked into a Baltimore TV station wearing an animal costume and a fake bomb.
The Baltimore Sun reports police records show the officers have been cleared of criminal wrongdoing. Records show seven other 2016 incidents remain under review and six have been closed with prosecutors declining to file charges.
In the incident at the TV station, police said the 25-year-old man, who was wearing an animal costume, was shot after ignoring commands to stop. The man survived and was later committed to a hospital for treatment for schizophrenia.
At the time, Sgt. Frederick Gilbart Jr. and Officers Robert Taylor and Brian Loiero were named as the officers involved. They won’t face charges after prosecutors’ decision.
