HILLSVILLE, Va. (AP) — A man is in critical condition after there was an explosion at his Carroll County home.
Media outlets report that the explosion happened around 6:45 a.m. Thursday when four people were inside the Hillsville home.
A man who was inside the home was taken in serious condition to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina. A woman and two children escaped safely.
The explosion was followed by a fire. The Hillsville Volunteer Fire Department and the Floyd County Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police are investigating the cause of the explosion.
