Man Charged With Arson at Maryland Psychiatric Hospital

CATONSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a Baltimore man has been charged with setting a fire at an occupied building at a state psychiatric hospital.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office said in a news release that the fire was reported Monday morning at Spring Grove Hospital Center in Catonsville. Officials say someone set fire to dry vegetation outside a cottage.

Law enforcers say the fire extended to an air conditioner and scorched the outside of the building.

Baltimore County firefighters quickly put the fire out. Damage was estimated at $1,500.

Police say 36-year-old Steven Paul Golob was arrested and charged with arson and other offenses. Online court records don’t list a lawyer for Golob.
