Mackenzie Perfect at Line, Bucknell Beats American U 69-60

WASHINGTON, D.C. (AP) — Kimbal Mackenzie scored 24 points and made all 11 of his free throws and Zach Thomas scored 16 points and had six boards to lead Bucknell past American 69-60 on Thursday night.

Nana Foulland contributed 11 points for Bucknell (11-5, 3-0 Patriot League).

The Eagles had their last lead of the game at 46-45 on Charlie Jones 3 with 6:34 remaining in the game. Thomas countered with a 3 10 seconds later and Foulland’s dunk made it 50-46.

A pair of Mackenzie free throw with 2:02 to play extended the Bison’s lead to 61-51 and American got no closer than seven the rest of the way.

Bucknell, 22 of 31 from the foul line, shot 22 for 40 (55 percent) to 22 for 55 (40 percent) for the Eagles, who made 11 of 15 free throws.

Sa’eed Nelson had 16 points, Lonnie Rivera scored 15, and Jones finished with 10 points and five steals for American (4-10, 1-2).
