Lars Tiffany to Coach Virginia Men's Lacrosse, Leaves Brown

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Virginia has hired Lars Tiffany, the men’s lacrosse coach at Brown the last 10 years, to take over the Cavaliers’ program.

Athletic director Craig Littlepage announced the hire on Tuesday.

Tiffany has been a head coach for 12 seasons, and this season guided the Bears to a program-record 16 victories and the national semifinals. Brown also led the nation with an average of 16.32 goals, and Tiffany will arrive at Virginia with a 113-69 career record.

He replaces hall of famer Dom Starsia, who led the Cavaliers to four national championship and 13 Final Fours in 24 seasons.

Littlepage says Tiffany is “one of the country’s more innovative coaches” and notes his background as a coach at a program that had championship expectations and high academic standards.
