Flight Returns to Norfolk After Possible Engine Issue

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Airline officials say a flight that took off from Norfolk International Airport for Detroit returned to Norfolk after the crew received an indication of a possible problem with one of the aircraft’s engines.

A spokesman for Delta Air Lines said in an email that ExpressJet flight 5319 was operating as Delta Connection. WAVY-TV that the flight took off from Norfolk at 10:59 a.m. Thursday; the pilot declared an emergency at 11:15 a.m.

Delta says the plane returned to Norfolk and landed safely. The plane was carrying 65 passengers and four crewmembers.

The airline spokesman says after a maintenance evaluation, the plane left for Detroit.
