BALTIMORE (AP) — Fire officials are identifying two young brothers killed in a rowhouse fire in East Baltimore.
Media outlets report that fire department spokesman Capt. Roman Clark identified the children Thursday as 3-year-old Nigel Ramirez and 9-month-old Exekial Ramirez. Two other children in the home escaped after the fire broke out on Wednesday night.
But Clark says by the time firefighters arrived, heavy flames and smoke were showing from the second floor. The boy’s bodies were found in a second-floor bedroom.
Clark says the children’s mother was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t thought to be life-threatening.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Clark says officials are investigating whether any adults were home when the fire broke out.
