CHANTILLY, Va. (AP) — Fairfax County police are setting up a safe place where online buyers and sellers can meet up to complete transactions.
The so-called “Exchange Zone” will occupy two parking places in front of the Sully Governmental Center in Chantilly as part of a pilot program that launches on Monday.
Police say online purchases that require a face-to-face meeting can make consumers vulnerable to assault, robbery and theft.
The exchange zone will be clearly marked for the purpose of completing transactions, and the lot is under constant video surveillance. Police say the goal is to make both buyers and sellers safer.
