Reston police arrested 22-year-old Hatim Khalid Abdelrahman, of Reston, Monday evening after police say on June 9 he arranged to meet a young girl with the apparent intent of having sex, said Fairfax County police spokesman Don Gotthardt.

Abdelrahman was under the impression he was meeting a teenage girl, Gotthardt said, but police have not yet released details about the girl’s age.

Gotthardt told WTOP that to his knowledge, Abdelrahman’s “alleged offenses did not involve students at the schools where he was a substitute.”

At the time of publication, Fairfax County Public Schools had not returned requests for details about where Abdelrahman served as a substitute teacher and for how long he worked there.

Abdelrahman is facing charges of solicitation of a minor and attempted indecent liberties.

Anyone who thinks their child/children might have had inappropriate contact with Abdelrahman can contact the Child Exploitation Unit at 703-246-7800 or Fairfax County police at 703-691-2131.
