HANOVER, Va. (AP) — A former Hanover County assistant principal has been sentenced for having sex with a high school student.
News outlets report 52-year-old Michael Carr Teegarden was sentenced Monday to 20 years in prison, with all but a year and a half suspended after pleading guilty to four counts of indecent liberties with a minor by a custodian for having repeated sex with a 16-year-old student.
Teegarden, who’s already serving four years in prison for child pornography convictions, will serve the additional year-and-a-half sentence immediately after his current one.
Teegarden’s sex offenses against the teen, which occurred in 1999 and 2000, surfaced in October when the victim saw a news report about Teegarden’s arrest for child pornography.
Teegarden was assistant principal at Lee-Davis High School from July 1998 to June 2000.
