Enhanced Mosquito Control Spray Set for Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) — An enhanced mosquito-control spraying is scheduled for part of Gaithersburg.

The Maryland Department of Agriculture’s Mosquito Control Program will do a truck-mounted spray on Thursday evening in the Strawberry Knolls area of Gaithersburg.

It is scheduled to begin at or after 7:30 p.m.

The state has initiated an enhanced mosquito prevention and control program this year due to public health concerns such West Nile virus and Zika virus. The state is working in cooperation with the health departments of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions.

Maryland now has 77 travel-related cases of Zika.
