Drunk Va. Driver Who Stole, Crashed Snowplow a Repeat Offender

MANASSAS, Va. — A repeat drunken driver stole a snowplow in Fairfax County, and crashed into another vehicle in Manassas, according to police and court records.

Monday night, Manassas City police saw a plow hit another vehicle in the 8600 block of Liberia Avenue. The plow fled the scene.

Nobody was injured.

Police determined that the plow matched the description of one stolen earlier in Fairfax County.

Officers pulled over the plow during a traffic stop, and identified the driver as 26-year-old William Sanchez, of Manassas.

Sanchez was initially charged with hit and run, driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a breath test.

WTOP has learned this is Sanchez’s third DUI offense within 10 years. The subsequent charge is a felony, with a statutory minimum of 90 days in jail up to 5 years.

He was also charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license.

According to online court records, Sanchez got his first DWI in 2009, less than a month after getting his license.

He is being held without bond, with a court hearing scheduled for April 25.
