Driver Charged With Manslaughter, DWI in Wrong-way Crash

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — Newport News Police say a man was killed when the car he was driving was hit head-on by a vehicle driving the wrong way.

The department said in a news release that the crash occurred early Sunday on Jefferson Avenue. Police say 29-year-old Antonio Williams Jr. of Portsmouth was driving north in the southbound lanes.

Authorities say Williams’ car hit a vehicle traveling south driven by 25-year-old Brandon Watson of Newport News. Police say Watson died at a hospital. Williams was treated at a hospital.

Officers say Williams is charged with involuntary manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.
