Dover Motorcyclist Killed in Crash With Car-hauling Truck

MILFORD, Del. (AP) — Authorities are investigating after a Dover man was killed in a motorcycle crash involving a tractor-trailer.

State police spokesman Master Cpl. Gary Fournier says 29-year-old David Thompson was riding his motorcycle on Delaware Route 1, north of Milford, on Thursday morning when a car-hauling truck began crossing the lanes to pull into a car dealership.

Fournier says Thompson tried to brake and lost control, striking the front of the trailer portion of the hauler.

Thompson, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene. The driver of the truck, 35-year-old Anthony L. Howard, of Parkville, Maryland, wasn’t hurt.

Fournier says there’s no evidence at this time that indicates drug or alcohol use by either operator.
