DC Trash, Recycling Crews Begin Work Early Because of Heat

WASHINGTON (AP) — Trash and recycling crews in the District of Columbia are beginning their work early because of expected high temperatures.

City officials said in a statement that trash and recycling crews will begin their collections an hour earlier on Friday because the forecast calls for temperatures above 90 degrees. That means collections start at 6 a.m.

The city says residents can put their items for Friday out starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening rather than waiting until the morning. The city says that throughout the summer when the temperature is predicted to be 90 degrees or higher, crews will begin their work at 6 a.m.
