DC Makes List of Best Cities for Job Seekers

WASHINGTON — D.C. makes Glassdoor’s new list of best cities for job seekers.

The workplace review and ratings site’s 25 Best Cities for Jobs in 2017 ranks Washington No. 16.

Glassdoor bases its list on three factors: how easy it is to get a job, or the local hiring opportunities; how affordable it is to live in each city, and, based on employee reviews, how satisfied employees are working at their jobs.

Glassdoor says there are currently 293,481 job openings in the Washington metro. The median base salary is $62,000, and Washington gets a job satisfaction rating of 3.5 (out of 5).

It also says hot jobs in the Washington area include systems engineer, financial analyst and risk consultant.

Baltimore also makes the list, at No. 19, with 123,370 job openings, a median base salary of $48,000 and a job satisfaction rating of 3.4.

Baltimore’s hot jobs include project manager, controls engineer and executive assistant.
