Day Care Worker Arrested, Accused of Leaving Child at Va. Mall

WASHINGTON — A day care worker in Woodbridge, Virginia, has been arrested after allegedly leaving a child at an area mall.

Potomac Mills mall security officers called police July 17 after a 2-year-old boy was found asleep in his stroller in the mall’s food court. The child had been under the care of Ebenezer Christian Academy preschool in Woodbridge.

“Approximately an hour later, caretakers for the child returned to the mall once they discovered the child was missing,” said Officer Nathan Probus with Prince William County police.

The child was returned to his parents, police said.

After an investigation, a warrant was issued for the arrest of the day care’s program director, Christal Anita Lundy. Charged with felony child neglect, Lundy turned herself in to police on Friday.

She was released on bond and awaits an appearance in Prince William Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

Police are conducting a joint investigation with Prince William County Child Protective Services, Probus said.
