WASHINGTON — A serious single-car crash early Thursday morning has shut down all northbound lanes on Interstate 295 in Southeast D.C. outside Congress Heights, Maryland.
Officials are on the scene, but the crash is expected to snarl traffic well into the morning commute.
Vehicles are being diverted onto Malcolm X Avenue.
D.C. police said the driver has been transported to a local hospital. The extent of the driver’s injuries are not known at this time.
Officials said there were no other passengers in the car, and that the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
