BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore Police are investigating a fatal shooting in the city’s southern district.
Police say officers heard gunfire Saturday around 5 p.m. on Sergeant Street, less than a mile from the Horseshoe casino and M&T Bank Stadium.
Friends took the victim, a 24-year-old man, to the hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Homicide detectives are investigating.
The shooting occurred amid efforts by activists to establish a 72-hour cease-fire in the city this weekend under the moniker “Nobody Kill Anybody.”
More than 200 homicides have already occurred in the city so far this year.
