Captive for 2 Years: Woman, Children Found in Spotsylvania Home

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — A Spotsylvania County man accused of holding a woman and two children captive for at least two years was arrested Wednesday.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office got a call from someone concerned that they hadn’t heard from members of a family in quite a while.

Deputies went to a house in the 3600 block of Mine Road to check on the family’s welfare. When they got there, a man identified as 43-year-old Kariem Moore appeared reluctant to let the deputies inside.

The Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star reports that’s when a woman and two children, 11 and 8 years old, ran out a side door.

They told deputies that had not been allowed outside for over two years.

Moore was arrested and charged with abduction and assault.
