Bondsman Charged With Trading Bail for Sex Strikes Plea Deal

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A Richmond-area bail bondsman accused of offering to bail women out of jail in exchange for sex has pleaded no contest to three misdemeanor charges in the case.

Media outlets report 61-year-old Vladimir Tarabay on Wednesday entered the pleas to two counts of soliciting prostitution and to a third charge of having carnal knowledge of a pretrial offender while working as a bail bondsman.

Prosecutors dropped the most serious charges that had been brought against Tarabay, which were felonies that included an abduction charge and a forcible sodomy charge.

Tarabay, who was the owner of Fast Bail Bonding in Richmond, was arrested in July after a victim told authorities Tarabay had propositioned her to perform sex acts in lieu of payment.

Tarabay is expected to be sentenced May 10.
