Baltimore Police Investigating Body Found in Shopping Cart

BALTIMORE (AP) — Authorities in Baltimore say a body was found in a shopping cart in an alley.

Baltimore police spokeswoman Nicole Monroe says the body of a 48-year-old man was found at about 8 a.m. Monday.

The Baltimore Sun reports a bag was loosely placed on the man’s head and the body was concealed with items including a curtain and a blanket.

Police say there were no visible injuries, but homicide detectives are investigating due to the suspicious nature of the death. An autopsy was conducted on Tuesday, but police say it did not pinpoint a cause of death. Authorities are now awaiting the results of a toxicology test.

The man was not immediately identified, pending notification of his next of kin.
