NORFOLK, Va. (AP) — Attorneys for a Virginia woman accused of killing her son are seeking a journal he kept before he died.
The Virginian-Pilot reports (http://bit.ly/295V3iu) that prosecutors have the teen’s writings. Lawyers for 45-year-old Tonya Slaton argue they could shed light on the mother-and-son relationship and any culpability she may have had in his death.
Quincy Davis disappeared in 2004. But he was never reported missing. His body was found in the trunk of Slaton’s car last summer after police puller her over in Hampton, Virginia. Officials believe he died at the age of 14 or 15.
Slaton’s attorneys argue that she loved her son. A jury trial is scheduled for late September.
