Alexandria Officer Hurt in Old Town Assault

WASHINGTON — An assault in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, sent an Alexandria police officer to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning.

Police told WTOP a suspect is in custody.

Police are investigating why the officer discharged a weapon at St. Asaph and King streets.

No one was wounded by the shot.
