2nd Suspect Arrested in U.Md. Shooting

WASHINGTON — Police have arrested the second suspect involved in an armed robbery at a hotel and conference center on the campus of University of Maryland, College Park, where a security guard was shot and injured.

Jamal Ulysses Green, 24, of D.C., was arrested on Tuesday and charged in connection to the armed robbery that took place earlier that day at the University of Maryland University College Inn and Conference Center, campus police said. The hotel and conference center sits in the area of Adelphi Road and University Boulevard.

Green, along with another suspect, shot a security guard after 1 a.m. Tuesday and made off with several portable safes from the back of the conference center. The guard is still in the hospital where campus police say he is recovering.

The first suspect was arrested in a wooded area across from the conference center, and three of the safes and a gun were found nearby.
