Farmers Restaurant Group, which runs Founding Farmers restaurants on Pennsylvania Avenue NW in D.C., in Potomac and in Tysons as well as Farmers Fishers Bakers in Georgetown, posted the lengthy statement on its website Monday, reiterating its status as a farmer-owned, if not always farm-to-table, restaurant with an eye on sustainability and supporting small, independent farms.
While founder Simons said in an interview that the statement is not meant to be a formal response to the June 8 Washington Post review by critic Tom Sietsema that awarded the restaurant zero stars, it’s hard not to make a connection.
