Restaurant Week: It's ON

Food prices are rising around the world, but for one week, D.C.'s restaurants will be bucking the trend.

Restaurant Week will run from Monday, Jan. 17 until through Monday, Jan. 23.

For impecunious epicureans, it will be a chance to sample premium dishes at proletarian prices. More than 200 restaurants in the Metro area will set special rates for lunch and dinner meals. Three-course prix-fixe lunches will be offered for $20.11, and three-course dinners are $35.11.

The deals don't stop at the District's borders. Eateries in Virginia and Maryland are also participating.  But a word to the wise - call ahead, or book at OpenTable.com. In past years demand has been high, and prospects of getting a table at participating restaurants without a reservation have been low.
