D.C.-Born Designer Contender in Contest

Among the myriad organizations that highlight aspiring designers in New York is Harlem's Fashion Row Now, for the fifth year, the program will send three aspiring black designers to New York Fashion Week, to present their collections in September.

One of the six semi-finalists is Kellia Rogers, 30, who grew up in D.C., studied at Otis College of Art and Design in L.A., and currently lives in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, according to the Daily News. Her womenswear line is called Kebero.

Open online voting through May 30 will determine which designers will make it to the tents.
