Taste of the Nation: A fundraiser with frosting

We don't know quite how to tell you this, but Taste of the Nation actually doesn't refer to McDonald's. It's actually yet another swanky fundraising event, of which District residents are especially fond in springtime. (Well, some people call it spring. It's still Snuggie weather to us.)

Next Thursday, March 30, 40+ of DC's hottest chefs dish up, well, pretty much anything you could want at Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium (1301 Constitution Ave. N.W.). Participating restos include 1789 Restaurant, Bistro Bis, Kaz Sushi Bistro and Lebanese Taverna. And hello, Georgetown Cupcake. For the first year, this event also includes a wine bar, plus an abundance of cocktails (of course).

The event reports: "100% of ticket sales help ensure no kid in America grows up hungry." We do find it a tad ironic that folks can go stuff themselves so that others can eat. But if you're spending $85-$150 on a ticket anyway, at least it's going toward a good cause.
