Cuba Libre Plans Double-Sided Bar

Construction at Cuba Libre isn't quite finished, head chef Jason Kaufman told The Feast yesterday. The Penn Quarter Cuban eatery opened last September, but now architects are beginning to draw up plans for a new double-sided bar and potentially a private dining area.

The restaurant won't be expanding into any additional properties, and will instead use a currently closed-off room with a high ceiling that's situated between the kitchen and the main dining area.

Kaufman also revealed that the restaurant will soon be launching a 'Cappy Hour,' which will feature deals on caipirinhas, a cocktail made with cachaça, sugar, and lime. At present, Cuba Libre's menu features four different varieties: Original; mint, ginger, and honey; raspberry, and watermelon.
