Crystal Screen Kicks Off Tonight

Northern Exposure: John Wort Hannam, winner of the Canadian Folk Music Award for Album of the Year, plays Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage tonight. The former school teacher plays an inspired brand of backwoods folk-pop. Free; 6 p.m.

Island Cinema: The D.C. Caribbean Film Festival continues at the AFI Silver Theatre, tonight showing Almacita, Soul of Desolato, a folktale epic focusing on a village priestess in Curacao. Shot in 1986, the film still resonates. $11; 7 p.m.

Green Screen: Crystal Screen, Crystal City's outdoor film fest, kicks off tonight with Air Force One. Admittedly not fine cinema but watching it outside with a picnic and some friends in this weather? You could do a lot worse. Free; Roughly 8 p.m.

Going out can be a gamble, so why leave it up to chance? Stack the deck every day by peeping Play's Dance Card.
