1 Hurt After Crane Collapse in Navy Yard

One person is hurt after a construction crane fell onto its side in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Southeast D.C.

The accident occurred Thursday morning at a construction site at 3rd and Tingey streets SE, the D.C. fire department said.

First responders arrived about 9:30 a.m. and found the crane on its side. The crane operator was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Work to move the crane is underway. Traffic at the affected intersection is shut down.

Several construction projects are underway in the area, which has many restaurants, stores and homes.
