Coroner: Paula Abdul fan Overdosed On Prescriptions

The coroner in Los Angeles has determined that an “American Idol” hopeful found dead outside of Paula Abdul’s house last committed suicide.

Assistant Chief of Coroner Ed Winter says Paula Goodspeed died in November after overdosing on multiple prescription drugs. He said a report did not indicate which drugs Goodspeed took.

Officials had suspected Goodspeed killed herself, but the coroner’s office had been waiting for the outcome of toxicology tests. Winter said Goodspeed did not leave a note.

Goodspeed auditioned for “American Idol” in season five and was panned for her rendition of “Proud Mary.” On the show, she said she was a huge fan of Abdul and created life-size paintings of the singer and former Laker Girl.

Abdul has recently backed off criticism of producers of “American Idol,” who she had claimed put Goodspeed on the air despite warnings that she was an obsessed fan.
