Corcoran café hosts Thursday evening events for Avedon exhibition

Power Hour is taking on a new meaning at the Corcoran.

On Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. the Corcoran café will host Power Hours. Throughout the run of the Corcoran Gallery of Art’s exhibit “Richard Avedon: Portraits of Power,” Café des Artistes will have Power Hours on Thursday nights, except on Nov. 26 for Thanksgiving.

Power Hours include two glasses of highly rated wines -- national and international selections -- and a combination cheese and hors d’oeuvres platter at the café, along with admission to the exhibition.

“Portraits of Power’ exhibits over 200 works of the late portraitist and fashion photographer Richard Avedon. Spanning over five decades, he photographed the elite media and government to ordinary citizens.

Power Hours will continue until Dec. 18 while the exhibit “Portraits of Power” runs through Jan. 25. For Thursday night reservations, call the Café at 202-639-1786. Tickets are $25 per person.
