Dukem Tries to Stay Open 24 Hours

U Street tibs and fitfit temple Dukem -- City Paper readers' pick for "Best Ethiopian Restaurant 2011") -- will make its case next week to stay open around the clock, neighborhood blog Prince of Petworth reports.

According to a placard posted in the window, a hearing is scheduled for Aug. 22 before the District's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. The restaurant's petition simply begs the question: Is it ever too late for spongy flat-bread and spicy lamb stew?
