Capitals Take on the Atlanta Thrashers

Caps try for a sixth consecutive home win as they face the Thrashers

The Capitals are trying for a sixth consecutive home win as they face the Atlanta Thrashers tonight.

Washington also is looking to avoid a season-high fourth straight loss overall. The team is coming off a 4-3 loss at Minnesota on Monday to conclude a 1-3-1 road trip.

The Capitals lost defenseman Jeff Schultz with a finger injury and forward Boyd Gordon due to a back injury in Monday's contest. The team already was playing without leading scorer Alexander Semin, top defenseman Mike Green and veteran Sergei Federov.

While the team's overall health remains a concern, the Capitals should be happy to return home, where they are 7-0-1 and have allowed only 16 goals.
