Health experts are warning that inaugural crowds could push medical facilities beyond their limits.
Hospitals in the D.C. area expect to see up to 60,000 patients during the four-day inaugural festivities, according to the Washington Examiner, which is about double the number of patients who would normally be treated.
The projection does not take into account a possible catastrophe or outbreak of an illness such as the flu.
Officials are still working out details of a plan to ensure that ambulances can make their way around large crowds and closed roads.
