Building Demo May Blow “Burn Notice” Out of Town

Miami Commission may vote on fate of show in city

Miami Commissioners could make "Burn Notice" go up in smoke in the city if they vote today to decide the fate of the show's local production headquarters.

The producers of the popular USA Network show, set and filmed in Miami, have put the city on notice that the show might high tail it out of town if the city proceeds with plans to demolish the Coconut Grove Expo Center.

The center currently serves as the show's production studio, though last year the Commission voted to demolish the expo center to make way for a massive $165 million waterfront plaza.

Commission Chairman Joe Sanchez has drafted a resolution to suspend the demolition, which could be voted on today. Sanchez would like to see the show, which brings millions of dollars into the city, stay put.

"Right now in these tough economic times we need to provide jobs and revenue for our city,"Sanchez told the Miami Herald.
