Black Cat Dumps Ticketmaster

The Black Cat's relationship with Ticketmaster ends next week, the club announced Tuesday.

Citing the ticket distribution giant's high service charges and merger with Live Nation, the Cat announced its partnership with Ticket Alternative, with which Rock & Roll Hotel regulars are already familiar.

Club owner Dante Ferrando told DCist he hasn't had problems with Ticketmaster locally, but Live Nation operates several competing venues in the Washington area. Ferrando has a "dislike and distrust" of Live Nation, he told The A.V. Club.

"They have a track record of just gobbling up competition and doing things that I think are very bad for the music scene in general."

Advance tickets are available through Ticketmaster through Sept. 25. All shows after that date are being sold through Ticket Alternative Service charges will be $2 for tickets $10 and less, and $2.50 on tickets from $11 to $20.
