The Beatles are reuniting for a live show -- in your living room.
The new version of the video game Rock Band to be released in September will allow players to rock out to the music of The Beatles in the Fab Four's first musical foray into the video game genre, MTV games announced today.
Fans will be able to select from the Beatles' expansive music catalogue and play instruments that resemble those played by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
"The project is a fun idea which broadens the appeal of the Beatles and their music," Paul McCartney said in a statement. "I like people having the opportunity to get to know the music from the inside out,”
The game is being published by Harmonix, the MTV division that created Rock Band and Guitar Hero but company CEO Alex Rigopolous said the end result will be "a new, full-grown, custom game built from the ground up."
The game will be available across America for XBox 360, Playstation, and the Nintendo Wii.
Yoko said that she hopes the game "will keep inspiring and encouraging the young generation for many decades."
