Mardi Gras: Where to Party Tonight

You better break out the beads and enjoy whatever you're giving up for lent, because Mardi Gras is right around the corner. Your favorite D.C. area bars are probably celebrating in some way, but here are a few of the parties you can't miss:

This Weekend:

Love Night Club:
Friday, February 20th.
Love is holding "Bourbon Street at Love." The event includes a food buffet and open bar from 10 - 11:30 p.m., and a cash prize for the person able to gather the most beads, since the event is five days early. Free admission until 12 a.m. with a mask or flyer.

The Front Page - Arlington:
Saturday, February 21st.
The Front Page's "Mardi Gras Madness" will include plenty of beads, and feathered masks for the first 200 people to enter . Live music will be provided by Love Seed Mama Jump and Playboy's DJ Kay Jay. $5, begins at 9 p.m.

K Street Lounge:
Saturday, February 21st.
The lounge promises a "non-stop dance fest," fueled by $4 Bud and $7 pink vodka drinks. Of course, there's a bead contest at 9:45 p.m. Professionals in the City will be hosting a four minute dating event beforehand. During the hour, you spend four minutes with each guy or girl, and then can get into contact after by e-mail. $20 for the dating event, $10 for the party before 11 p.m. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Hard Rock Cafe:
Over 1,000 attend the Fat Saturday Huge Mardi Gras Kick off Jam party every year for the live New Orleans jazz band, DJs, prizes and giveaways. And it wouldn't be Mardi Gras without a beads and mardi gras contest, hurricanes and cajun bloody marys. There will also be a caricaturist offering free drawings. 9 p.m. $12 advance tickets.

The Actual Day (Tuesday):

Town Tavern:
The tavern will be holding its first ever "Kegs and Eggs" event. The morning will consist of $12 unlimited Louisianna breakfast buffet and Budweiser until 10:30. The rest of the day will have two-for-one hurricanes all day, $1 pitchers 7 - 9 p.m. and $2 pitchers from 9 - 11 p.m. They're starting nice and early at 8 a.m. The real kicker? A $1000 prize for most mardi gras beads at midnight. Start stocking up now, and leave your shame at the door. $5, all proceeds go to American Red Cross.

Rumors:
Got a little Captain in you? Rumor has it that Captain Morgan and the Morganettes will be giving away free drinks at Rumors' "Bourbon Street Bash." The party will be an all out spectacle, with face painters and a balloon artist, a Cajun wing eating contest, and live music from the band Heavy Hands. $2 Miller Lite between 5 and 10 p.m. and $3 hurricanes. $100 for the female with the most beads. $5 cover. 4 p.m. - close.

Cafe Citron:
If you're low on cash, Citron is offering $200 for most extreme costume. What constitutes "extreme" is left up to the individual, so you can probably get pretty creative. During their happy hour, from 4 - 7 p.m., you can get $5 mojitos, margaritas, rum and rum lemonades. From 7 - 9 p.m., Barcardi models will be giving out free drink samples. Hurricanes and vodka cocktails are $5 all night.

Acadiana:
Monday, February 23rd and Tuesday, February 24th. Their Mardi Gras happy hour will last from 5:30 - 10:30 p.m., and will include $5 for hurricanes, pimms cup, dark and stormy and bourbon lemonade drinks. For $40, they'll be serving a four-course prix-fixe menu with a distinctive Louisianna flare. If you're not looking to spend that much, they also will have a special "New Orleans Street Fare" menu at the bar for cheap finger foods.

Bohemian Caverns:
