D.C. Restaurant Week: It Begins

Summer Restaurant Week Offers Discount for Lunch and Dinner

Make your reservations now. In fact, make two or three or four or five. The summer edition of D.C. Restaurant Week  kicks off Monday, Aug. 16, and plenty of spots already are booked.

Veteran restaurant week diners know the drill. As soon as they get the word, they make mutiple reservations at the hardest places to get in, like Rasika. Yup, the upscale Indian restaurant in Penn Quarter is booked solid for the entire week. And it's easy to see why. Through Sunday, Aug. 22, partcipating restaurants offer a prix-fixe three-course dinner for $35.10 and lunch for $20.10. In some cases, that's the cost of just one entree. Plus, it gives you a great excuse to go out to dinner or sneak away for lunch.

Plenty of great places still have open tables: the power steakhouses (Charlie Palmer's, The Palm, Capital Grille); the fancy numbered restaurants (1789, 2941, 701); the café restaurants (Café Atlantico, Café Bonaparte, Café Dupont); the Southern faves (Acadiana, B Smith's, Georgia Brown's); the new hot spots (Bibiana, Zentan, Ris); and the oldies but goodies (Jaleo, Kaz, Johnny's).

Prices don't include beverage, tax or gratuity. But if you get a spot at the right place, you could get a super deal for delicious meal.
