150,000 Will Take Their Shopping to the Streets

Downtown D.C. presents its 4th annual Holiday Market

This holiday season are you looking for a way to avoid massive crowds, over-priced malls, and ordinary gifts? Downtown D.C. presents its fourth annual Downtown Holiday Market.

Beginning Dec. 5, F Street will be taken over by the holiday spirit as 150 local artisans fill the blocks with high-quality gifts like fine art, crafts, jewelry, pottery, photography, clothing and prepared food items. The market, located between 7th and 9th streets, offers shoppers a unique and festive atmosphere with live musical entertainment (from local jazz, swing, blues, and reggae artists) that will get you into the holiday spirit.

Not only will the gifts be exceptional, but also the entire market is environmentally conscience. From handmade and fair trade items to the bio-diesel generators powering the market to the publicity materials printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled materials, the market is environment friendly.

Executive Director Richard H. Bradley stated, “The 2008 Downtown Holiday Market continues to showcase Downtown’s renaissance and provides local and regional residents, workers and visitors with a vibrant holiday experience in the heart of Washington, DC.” They invite you to check out what the market has to offer between Dec. 5 and Dec. 23 from noon to 8 p.m.

Join with the 150,000 visitors who enjoyed the market last year and give gifts that are unique and good quality. Co-producer Michael Berman says you’ll be able to check everyone off your gift list.

“There is something for everyone at the Market,”Berman said. For more information visit their website.
