Celebrate St. Paddy's Day a Wee Bit Early

Leprechaun Lap:

The Irish may be known for a few things, but being a group of alcohol abstainers is not one of them. Whether you've got Irish ancestry, or your idea of having a little Irish in you is downing a Guinness, you can join in on the St. Patrick's Day fun early with the 8th Annual Leprechaun Lap Bar Tour on Saturday, March 7.

The event runs from 1-9 p.m., and involves shuffling drinkers through a number of Midtown bars. Participating bars include Black Rooster Pub, James Hoban's, Madhatter, Mackey's, Recessions, Rumors, Singapore Bistro, and The Front Page.

While drinks aren't free (because what is these days), you can expect $2 Miller Lite and Coors Lite bottles, $3 Leinenkugel Sunset Wheat and Peroni, as well as other specials depending on the bar. Look for discounted Irish car bombs, as well as cheaply priced not-so-Irish fare like burgers, nachos, wings and pizza.

There will also be an afterparty for anyone left standing from 9 p.m. - 12 a.m. at Steve's Bar Room. The place, which normally charges a cover, will offer free admission and drink specials until the midnight hour. At that point, you either turn back into the drunken American you are, or keep up the Irish spirit all night long by sticking around or returning to your favorite bars from the day.

You can register the day of the event at Mackey's from 1 - 6 p.m. Tickets are $13, or $10 if you bring in two cans of food. The cans benefit Manna Food Center. To buy advance discount tickets, click here.
