‘American Idol' Runner-Up Adam Lambert Lands Record Deal

"I'm thrilled that we've come to a creative and collaborative partnership and look forward to developing a really exciting album," Lambert said in a statement released to Access Hollywood. "We are 100 percent on the same page and are all anxiously awaiting the start of the recordings. It's going to be ridiculous! Get Ready!"

The news of the record deal comes one day after "Idol" winner Kris Allen signed a record deal with Jive Records, also slated to drop this fall.

"To find a talent as exceptional as Adam Lambert is a rare and special event," said Simon Fuller, Creator and Executive Producer of American Idol and Founder & CEO of 19 Entertainment. "I am thrilled that 'American Idol' was the platform for the world to discover this brilliant young man. He is unique and unforgettable and a certain star of tomorrow."

Lambert, the 27-year-old San Diego native, already has had four songs on the Billboard Hot 11 chart earlier this summer, including his covers of "Mad World," "No Boundaries" and "One."

The singer will be working on his debut album while on the road this summer on the "American Idol Live" tour, which kicks off July 5 in Portland, Ore.
